USE OF 311 NM NARROW-SPECTRUM PHOTOTHERAPY IN THE TREATMENT OF PSORIASIS
Abstract
The study evaluated the efficacy of narrow-band UVB phototherapy at 311 nm in patients with widespread plaque and guttate psoriasis. A comprehensive clinical study and treatment were conducted in 42 patients with progressive or stationary disease; procedures were performed three times weekly with gradual dose increases, and efficacy was assessed using the PASI index and the DIJ questionnaire. A positive therapeutic effect was observed in all patients: clinical recovery was achieved in 32, marked improvement in 8, and improvement in 2; mild erythema occurred in 4 patients. The authors regard the method as highly effective and safe and recommend narrow-band UVB therapy as one of the principal methods of pathogenetic treatment for psoriasis.Downloads
