Analysis of Clinical Errors in the Diagnosis of Skin Melanoma
Abstract
The article analyzes subjective and objective causes of clinical errors in the diagnosis of cutaneous melanoma. These include insufficient theoretical knowledge and clinical experience, inadequate oncological vigilance, disregard of the patient’s history and risk factors, superficial examination, limited use of non-invasive diagnostic methods, atypical tumor forms and locations, masking of clinical manifestations by concomitant skin disease, and erroneous results of initial cytological or histological examinations. Effective early diagnosis requires continuous collaboration between dermatological and oncological services, both in diagnostic verification and in the analysis and exchange of information on diagnostic errors, together with systematic professional training.Downloads
