Abstract

The article examines the relationship between intestinal microbiocenosis and the severity of acne. Patients with acne showed reduced levels of bifidobacteria, lactobacilli, intestinal Escherichia coli, and staphylococci, together with increased amounts of conditionally pathogenic enterobacteria, enterococci, and yeasts of the genus Candida. More severe disease was associated with more pronounced disturbances of the intestinal microflora, including greater degrees of dysbacteriosis, a prolonged course, and torpid response to treatment. The authors recommend considering the state of intestinal microflora and including measures aimed at restoring the disturbed microbiocenosis in the treatment of patients with acne.
