Features of Free-Radical Metabolism in Patients with True Eczema
Abstract
The article examines the characteristics of free-radical lipid oxidation and the antioxidant defense system in 49 patients with true eczema. The concentrations of diene conjugates and malondialdehyde, the antioxidant activity coefficient, and catalase activity were determined. A marked increase in diene conjugates, a moderate increase in malondialdehyde, reduced catalase activity, and a slight increase in the antioxidant activity coefficient were found. These findings indicate an imbalance between lipid peroxidation and antioxidant defense, associated with excessive activation of free-radical lipid peroxidation and depletion of certain enzymatic components.Downloads
