Carbohydrate Metabolism in Patients with Widespread Dermatoses
Abstract
The study examined liver function and carbohydrate metabolism in patients with widespread psoriasis, chronic true eczema, and acute drug disease. The investigation included 78, 35, and 30 patients, respectively, together with 146 conditionally healthy controls; serum parameters, fasting blood glucose, and glucose tolerance test results were assessed. Findings indicated impaired structural and metabolic processes in the liver, elevated fasting glucose in a proportion of patients, and abnormal glycemic curve patterns in half of those examined. The authors recommended a low-carbohydrate diet, physical activity, and correction of carbohydrate metabolism as components of complex therapy.Downloads
