Neurogenic Mechanisms of Alopecia Areata
Abstract
The article examines neurogenic mechanisms of focal alopecia and the interaction between neural and lymphocytic components of its pathogenesis. Reflexotherapy is considered as a treatment affecting both components, including stimulation of auricular points associated with a sedative effect and restoration of adrenal cortex effects, together with local warming of corporal points. Among 25 patients receiving reflexotherapy alongside standard treatment, vellus hair appeared earlier and in all affected areas, whereas in 25 patients treated by the standard method it appeared later and only in the temporal regions. The authors conclude that reflexotherapy can act comprehensively on the interdependent immune and neurogenic mechanisms of the disease.Downloads
