Peculiarities of Somatopsychic Disorders in Patients with Venereal Infections
Abstract
The article examines somatopsychic disturbances in patients with venereal infections and inflammatory diseases of the genital organs. Clinical and psychopathological examination of 48 patients revealed changes in 30; asthenic, asthenic-depressive, anxiety-depressive, anxiety-phobic, agrypnic, and hypochondriacal syndromes were described. Mental disorders developed predominantly as psychogenic reactions associated with the personal significance of the disease, fear of venereal infection, and unfavorable relationships with a sexual partner. Men demonstrated emotional instability, fatigue, sleep disturbances, autonomic manifestations, and sexual disorders, whereas women presented psychogenic cystalgia; these disturbances could contribute to maladjustment in marital relationships.Downloads
